SNEEKPEEK AUTUMN/WINTER 2013

The next collection is just now being sewn in Izmir in Turkey! It should reach stores around the world in the beginning of September. 
The Autumn/Winter 2013 collection is inspired by my dad. He had a tame Magpie as he grew up at his foster-mother in southern Sweden.  He loved the sun and to sunbathe and was always tanned. He loved astronomy and therefor bought a massive telescope to watch and photograph the night sky. He got obsessed by the total eclipses that are so rare! When he was young he used to fly the glider and loved all sorts of birds. He worked a lot, traveling frequently to Finland, the States and within Sweden. He was quite eccentric and very pedantic, he was very thoughtful with a hasty temper. He was strong and weak at the same time. It’s thanks to my dad that Modéerska Huset exists. He was a wonderful man. Then, last fall, all of a sudden he wasn’t there anymore. I wish that I could use the doves in “Up and Above” to send him messages and tell him everything that’s happening. I love my father and I hope that you will love this collection that I dedicate to him. 
The three patterns in this collection are called Pica Pica, Up and Above and The Baltic. Pica Pica is a print with a boy and his Magpie; Pica Pica is the latin word for Magpie. Up and Above is a pattern with all that's heavenly about the sky. The Baltic is a pattern of the sea that separates Sweden and Finland with lots of ferries going forward and back, little islands, greenish waves and many gracile swans.

I WANT TO HOLD YOUR HAND

This weekend me and my kids went to Borås Konstmuseeum for the opening of the exhibition "I want to hold your hand" a tribute to pop-music. I mainly let my kids (four and six years old) handle the camera as you might see from the result below! It was a wonderful opening, crowded and not just by the ordinary crowd so to speak. I didn't really have much time to see the exhibition as my youngest was in a foul mood. So I will to go back there on my own some day, there's no rush as it's on until the 29th of September! Do check out the link above as there will be several bands having gigs and other things happening as well.

ERIK HÅRDSTEDT

När jag idag var på Borås Konstmuseum gick jag naturligtvis upp till övervåningen och såg Erik Hårdstedts utställning. Så fin den med, fantastiska akvareller! Konstnären själv var på plats och han tecknar gärna av besökarna.... se resultatet av mig längst ner :) 

BO CHRISTIAN LARSSON: FALLING DOWN REDUX

Denna helgen är det sista chansen att se Bo Christian Larssons utställning Falling Down Redux på Borås Konstmuseum (tom söndag 24 mars 2013). Eftersom jag inte hade något speciellt inbokat i kalendern i dag så satte jag mig på bussen till Borås efter att ha lämnat barnen på skola/dagis. Det var verkligen värt resan, vilken fantastiskt fin utställning! Museet doftar småländsk furu av allt virke som använts till att omforma hela Konstmuseets nedervåning! Det jag tyckte mest om var små tavlor (Ghost) utmed en hel vägg där Bo Christian Larsson målat på gamla porträtt från 40-talet och jag älskade den magiska ugglegarderoben (eller The Hollow Beach som den heter)!

NIGHTSHIFT

After putting my kids to bed eight-ish o'clock I normally do the washing up and then my "nightshift" begin! It usually lasts for a few, quite a few or rather far too many hours :( The daytime hours are just not enough for managing both work, kids, home and myself. I'd really need twice as long days. Anyway... Yesterday I continued work on a pattern for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection. I call the patter Run Lion!. If you remember there was a story on the news last year about people spotting a lion somewhere in England but it turned out to be simply a very large cat! This news story is my inspiration for Run Lion!. I only have a few days to finish drawing my next collection so I've got some quite heavy nightshifts ahead of me.... Yesterday I got good help from a cup of hot chocolate and a friend's brilliant playlist; and perhaps this might be the remedy for the future nightshifts as well!
