NIGHTSHIFT

After putting my kids to bed eight-ish o'clock I normally do the washing up and then my "nightshift" begin! It usually lasts for a few, quite a few or rather far too many hours :( The daytime hours are just not enough for managing both work, kids, home and myself. I'd really need twice as long days. Anyway... Yesterday I continued work on a pattern for the Spring/Summer 2014 collection. I call the patter Run Lion!. If you remember there was a story on the news last year about people spotting a lion somewhere in England but it turned out to be simply a very large cat! This news story is my inspiration for Run Lion!. I only have a few days to finish drawing my next collection so I've got some quite heavy nightshifts ahead of me.... Yesterday I got good help from a cup of hot chocolate and a friend's brilliant playlist; and perhaps this might be the remedy for the future nightshifts as well!

SPRING/SUMMER 2013

I'm finally getting down to drawing the next collection: S/S13... though I'm under so much stress. I have been given a deadline from my producers: everything must be finished and sent to them by the 21st of May (not even 2 weeks left...) This is to enable them to finish and send me the samples in time for the CPH Kids fair in Copenhagen 9-11th of August. So yesterday and today I worked on the colours.
I love working with the colours (next to drawing the patterns this is my favourite task)! This is my method: I put together some pictures that I feel strongly about and then I select colours from these photos/pictures. It can be pictures of anything at all. I'm constantly collecting pictures. Below's my unfinished colour-collage and approximate colours for S/S13. Next step is to make a colour-chart of these colours in Illustrator so that I can start applying them to my designs and patterns. So far I call the S/S 2013 collection CROSS....

NYA MÖNSTER - NEW PATTERNS

Det är så roligt att rita! och jag känner mig ganska så nöjd med resultatet än så länge. Tre rapport-mönster är helt klara nu. Jag vill inte avslöja för mycket så här långt i förväg men på bilderna nedan visar jag lite smådetaljer från de svartvita originalen. I morgon ska jag skicka iväg två av mönstren till Turkiet, sen blir det jobbigt att gå och vänta på att få se de första provtrycken.

Drawing is so much fun! and so far I'm quite pleased with the result. Three all over patterns are now finished. I don't want to give too much away this early but the pictures above show details from the black and white originals. Tomorrow I'll send two of the patterns off to Turkey, then I'll need to be patient and waitwaitwaitwaitwait to see the first test print.
